He said he went to 2 BMX races put on by Kipps Bike shop in the Glendora area. All the Kids were still riding Schwinns and that he had the only BMX style bike. He said it had Cut off Sissy bars with a bannana seat to look like a Moto Cross Bike.
He is looking for a picture he said he has of the bike to show me.
JMC??Gary,
I lived just up the road from Kipp's, I went to school with his daughter Tina. I was at those races on a home built mono-shocker! The track was in a field by the bike shop, between a housing tract and the train tracks. Kipp's was a Dan Gurney dealer, I use to drool all over the floor starring at those nickle plated pogo-sticks on a regular basis..... Before I was a regular at JM Cyclery, I did some shopping at Kipp's. I bought my first pair of Rascals aluminum bars and my first set of Araya 7B's there.....
Sounds like the shop Rich got his bike from was for sure JMC, the location is dead on. '74-'75 is way too early for it to be a JMC though.... Maybe a CYC, Jim use to build wheels for them in the early days....
Eddy,
I always rolled up to the gate hoping you would slip a pedal or fall, it didn't happen often enough!!! LOL! You were always cool, calm and freakin' FAST!!!! got nothin' but RESPECT for you E.K.
